The Big Christmas Sing-A-Long

The two-hour virtual celebration to be held on Thursday, December 17 will feature Australian and international entertainers, with aged care residents across the nation to take to the stage along with famous performers including Johnny Young, Normie Rowe, Kamahl and Ernie Dingo.

Baptist Care Australia Executive Director, Nicole Hornsby said “It’s a fantastic idea and brilliant opportunity to bring the sector together this festive season, especially after having faced the challenges of the pandemic.”

Aged Care services across Australia will be videoing Christmas carols and festive messages from residents and families, for the Sing-A-Long. Members are encouraged to share the Big Christmas Sing-A-Long with residents, staff, families, friends and their communities to celebrate and also star in the show!

The Big Christmas Sing-A-Long is being coordinated by the Royal Freemasons’ Benevolent Institution, Leading Age Services Australia and Aged and Community Services Australia and promoted by all age services organisations. It will be hosted by Studio 10 presenter and Ten News First national newsreader Narelda Jacobs.

“This is really about unifying Australian’s this Christmas, through enthusiasm, celebration and joy for our older people and those who care for them. We’re incredibly excited that everybody across the nation has the opportunity to be involved,” said Nicole Hornsby.

The show will be broadcast on Thursday 17 December between 1-3pm AEDT and will go out to up to 3,000 aged care homes, retirement villages and home care organisations plus their families, friends and communities, with more than 1.5 million people!
