Appointment of new Executive Director for Baptist Care Australia

I'm pleased to advise you that Marcia Balzer has accepted the role of Executive Director for Baptist Care Australia.

Marcia is a professional executive with a strong background in management of issues in complex multi-stakeholder environments. She has experience in both for-profit and government organisations, progressing from marketing and fundraising to areas in communications, advocacy and public relations. Her career has evolved from single issue management organisations through to State and national level advocacy.

Marcia's most recent role was Head of Public Affairs Manager with the Australian Veterinary Association - a complex multi-stakeholder role with interfaces ranging from commercial businesses to Federal Government and other peak bodies. Her position included responsibility for all communications, marketing, policy, advocacy, public relations and issues management across the entire business, as well as providing support service for the business's strategy development activities.

On a personal level, Marcia has a passion for social justice and enterprises which operate in that space. She has enjoyed a life-long interest in music. Marcia is currently a member of the Ashfield Baptist Church.

While currently based in Sydney, where she was born, Marcia will re-locate to Canberra for the role with Baptist Care Australia.

Carolyn and Marcia will spend a week together for hand-over of the role - before Carolyn's last day on Friday 17 February 2017.
