After careful consideration, the Baptist Care Australia Board is happy to announce the appointment of Dr Robyn Sampson as our new Chief Executive Officer.
Dr Sampson brings with her a wealth of experience and a profound commitment to building societies that value the inherent dignity and equality of all people. Notably, her impactful advocacy work at the UN led to positive policy changes in over 40 countries and earned key commitments from all Member States as part of negotiations towards a new global compact. In addition to her remarkable record of impact, Robyn also holds a deep understanding and appreciation of the Baptist tradition, having been a part of the Baptist church since childhood. She holds a PhD in Politics from La Trobe University.
Charles Moore, Chair of the Baptist Care Australia Board, expressed his warm welcome to Dr Sampson, stating, "On behalf of the members of the Baptist Care Australia network, I warmly welcome Dr Sampson to the role of CEO. Her passion and commitment to others, combined with her extensive track record of advocacy impact, means she is well-placed to represent and support our members’ social services. I have no doubt Robyn will be a strong advocate for people who are vulnerable and living on the margins, as well as a valued thought leader for Baptist social services across Australia. We are excited about the contributions she will make through this vital role."
Reflecting on her appointment, Robyn said “I am genuinely honoured to be taking on the role of CEO of the Baptist Care Australia network. I am deeply committed to the values of equality and respect which drive Baptist community organisations to respond to disadvantage and suffering. My primary goal will be to cultivate collaboration at every opportunity to achieve greater outcomes for everyday Australians in need.”
Dr Sampson first joined Baptist Care Australia in 2021 as an analyst and strategist and has been serving as Acting CEO following the departure of Nicole Hornsby in August, 2023. Dr Sampson’s tenure with Baptist Care Australia includes leadership roles within the National Aged Care Alliance, the Everybody’s Home campaign, and the Stronger Charities Alliance. Dr Sampson will assume the position of CEO immediately.
We look forward to embarking on this new chapter and we appreciate the continued support of our partners and stakeholders for our mission to build stronger and more equitable communities.
